From the new year, Motorsport In Print will become my full time job. As many of you know already, Motorsport In Print was, until fairly recently, only really a part time job for me which I worked on in the evenings and weekends.
Everything started back in June 2009 with a drawing of a Caterham 7. This got shown to quite a few motorsport fanatics who absolutely loved the unique style.
Artwork has always been a part of my life, as has motorsport. I have watched F1 ever since I was very young remembering the great Senna and Prost battles and have also been fortunate enough to see Colin McRae and Richard Burns battle it out in the WRC at the Sweet Lamb stage many years ago.
I started painting and drawing at a very young age but not focused on motorsport – my work was more abstract… ’splodges’ as I liked to call them! I sold paintings all over the world. I enjoyed this very much but I still found it hard to pick subjects.
So, from January, Motorsport In Print is my full time job… after just 6 months behind the wheel. But, what a superb 6 months I have had! Completed work for a Red Bull Air Race team, had work featured in Autosport Magazine, had prints signed by some of the F1 greats; Jenson Button, Anthony Davidson, David Coulthard, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel… I have raised thousands of pounds for different charities and completed some great commissions.
None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for you… my fantastic customers and fans!
Some things to look out for in the coming weeks and months…
- More original paintings. Varying sizes and ultimately cost. I still believe that unique artwork should be accessible by anyone. This artwork will be in a similar style to my prints.
- More shows. I will be attending quite a few shows in 2010 – quite a few legs of the BTCC, possibly the Silverstone GP (TBC) along with different rallying events and car shows.
- New features on the website. Including improved navigation, more print options and of course, more new products!
I have had the pleasure in chatting to so many of you on Twitter and have met some fantastic people at the shows I have attended this year. I really am looking forward to what the new year will bring!
Merry Christmas to all!
